:: fan rant :: csi

i'm thinking about making the fan rant another addition to the blog. i might not do it to terribly often (it's not quick facts) but we'll see.

i'm the kinda guy that watches really whatever is on tv. there are some shows that i really enjoy watching, but there are only a few shows that i'll absolutely stop everything for to watch (yeah, american idol watchers, i'm pointing at you). one of those shows is csi. no, not the miami spin off or the new york series. the original. the best. the one in las vegas. i just like the characters in that series better than the other ones. i think it's quirky and original like the other series can't match.

my favorite character on csi is/was warrick brown. i know, everyone loves gris or sarah or greg or nick. i like warrick. he had some interesting character development during the course of the show, from the pilot on through. like being the guy who has to deal with the feelings of being responsible after leaving a rookie csi at the scene for to make some gambling runs, only to find out later that she had been murdered while on scene. he was an orphan raised by his grandmother. he worked to put himself through college, and he grew up on the streets of vegas. he had that episode where he found out the daughter of his childhood role model (who says community organizers can't change lives? oh, republicans.) had been murdered, and you got to the see the turmoil as he struggled with the choice of doing what was right and doing what felt right. there were the episodes where he was struggling to overcome his gambling addiction, and you got to see the characters growth. the episodes where nick was kidnapped and burried alive, you got to see him worry about his friend and deal with the "that could have been me" feelings.

all this to say, i liked his character.

in the season 8 finale, warrick was cleared of charges that he murdered a mob boss. the gang went out to eat to celebrate. as warrick was preparing to drive off, he was stopped by the undersheriff for what looked like a congratulations. but instead, the undersheriff shoots warrick in the neck and chest, cleans his gun and walks off. and that's how last season ended.

to be sure, i was pretty pissed.

but, it looks like this case, the case of warrick's shoot/(possibly) death is going to turn this season into an awesome one. i just saw the trailer for season 9 and i'm pretty stoked about it.

here it is.

they ended season 6 with him getting sniped in the chest and left for dead... so i guess so.

i'm also hearing rumors that they are replacing Gil Grissom with a character to be replaced my Morpheus himself, Laurence Fishburne.
